The Komen Mission:
To eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening, and treatment.

Breast Cancer

A woman with breast cancer may experience emotional ups and downs on her journey through diagnosis and treatment. Friends and family often provide much-needed support, but there is an unspoken bond between breast cancer survivors. In addition to support groups, individual support is also available through various programs, such as “Reach to Recovery.” Trained volunteers who are breast cancer survivors are available for information and support by phone or in person. Support group members share feelings and talk about their progress, and most groups also have planned educational sessions. Many groups have facilitators who are professionals and have expertise to provide vital resources and answer questions. Most support groups are free unless otherwise noted. For more information about how to locate a breast cancer support group or other cancer support groups in your area, please refer to the list on the breast cancer resources page or contact your health-care provider, church, temple, synagogue, or local community agency.
