THREE STEP APPROACH TO BREAST CANCER EARLY DETECTION

2. Clinical Breast Examination (CBE)

Q. When should I get a clinical breast exam?
A. Get a clinical breast examination at least every 3 years, beginning at the age of 20, and every year after age 40. A clinical breast examination is a visual and physical examination of your breasts by a health-care professional. He or she will look for “changes” such as dimpling, puckering or
discharge from the nipples. Using the pads of the fingers, your health-care provider will carefully feel both breasts, the underarm and collarbone areas.
